Art Reflection

In art 10 one of our projects entailed of picking four words out of four different hats. One word was a location one was an item and the last two were styles of art. My four words were paris, diamond, simplification and texture. After you got your four words you had to think of a design using any thing you want. I did the Eiffel tower with a simple diamond ring around and in the background there were clouds that had texture and a blue sky. I decided that my piece was the final product when all the words were incorporated and I was happy how they were placed out. I incorporated the design principles by taking the two that I choose and made sure that they were incorporated in at least one part of the project. I prefer to work with paint because I think it is a forgiving medium if you mess up you wait for it to dry and paint over. I feel relaxed in art while doing this project I can do my work while still talking to my friends and not getting overly stressed. Creativity adds a lot to my life it lets my life be more relaxed. Creativity played a huge part in this project because all you are given are four words and you need to use your imagination to find and idea and branch off from it. Art will not be a main focus in my future but in some parts in my life when I need to use creativity I will look back to my art days and try and use my imagination and try and be creative. The highlight shows that I am not the most artistic person but when I apply myself things can happen.

Volleyball Coaching Reflection

In grade 10 I decided to help my volleyball club coach grade 6-8 volleyball. I really enjoyed it that is why I choose to write my reflection on it. I feel it is important to help others and give back to the community because other people have helped and the community have or will help me in some point. I believe in karma if I do something good something good will happen to me. It is important to incorporate service into your lifestyle because I believe that lifestyle is like the four strands must be equally balanced out with service athletics academics/a job and arts. I will carry this into the rest of my life by coaching volleyball once I can no longer play volleyball I hope to coach. I want to do this because people shared there love of volleyball with me and I would like to share my love with someone else. This project enhances someones life by getting learn volleyball from people that are close to their age and the get to share the love of the sport with someone else. I changed as an individual because I preformed better as an athlete after seeing how hard the kids worked. They worked hard so they could become better players and it showed me how to do that as well. Some connections between the experience and employable skills are working with younger kids and teaching them will help me in a job situation using the leaderships skills I learned will help me in a job because i needed to lead and work together at the same time with other people.

Science 10 Reflection

In grade 10 science started out with a rocky start. I really wanted to get a good mark because I would like do go into sciences in university Science 10 changed my approach to courses in the way that I know now that I need to start applying myself more and start putting a full effort in. I chose to write about science because this is the subject that I love and would like to go into later on in life. I have learned a lot from science 10 I have learned that science is not an easy field and that it will not just come to you, you need to  try your hardest. I will carry on this knowledge into university and the job I would like to go into. For the rest of my life in science I will try my hardest and know it will not just come to me I need to try. Doing science 10 in the way that I did help me build upon my knowledge of that hard things do not come to you no matter how much you want it you must try as hard or more than you want it. Many of skills improved after science 10. I learned how to study more efficiently and harder and not to just wait until the hour before. Also my general science skill improved much by taking a harder level of science compared to the year before. I gained a lot from this course I learned how much I love science and I also learned that I want to go into sciences and use the skills for the rest of my life. I believe that with out the teaching of collingwood I would not be able to succeed in boosting my science mark.

Club Provincials 2012 Highlight

In grade 10 I went to provincials with my club team Stars for the second time in a row. This year we got set up with a really good seat in the standing and we were determined to do well. We played amazing during the whole tournament and we ended up with a silver medal all hard work really payed off.

Junior Volleyball Highlight

Junior volleyball was a great experience this year I really enjoyed being captain and putting my leadership skills to work. I love playing volleyball but being captain was a cherry on top.

Equestrian Highlight

During the grade 10 year I was very busy riding my horse. This was my sixth year of riding and this year I did not let myself get sidetracked from it for many year volleyball and friends came first and I would always still ride but not as competitively in grade 10 I worked very hard so I could have a good show season.

Volleyball Coaching Highlight

In grade 10 I decided to help my club coach grade 6-8 volleyball. I really enjoyed the opportunity to help share my love of the sport with younger children. I loved coaching interacting with kids not that much younger than me was amazing and seeing in improvement over the two and half months of coaching was very satisfying. I am very happy that I did help coach and I cant wait til do it next year.

Art 10 Highlight

In grade 10 I decided to take art as my elective. I am not a naturally artistic person and I wanted to take this course to challenge myself to break out of the box. I am very happy I did take this course because I ended up really enjoying it and I really enjoyed letting the creative part of me flow.

North Shore Stars Volleyball Club Highlight

In grade 10 I played club volleyball for the second year with North Shore Stars Volleyball Club. That year was extremely different because we lost a lot of good players and gained a lot of new players. We needed to learn how to work together and we needed to learn fast because the season was approaching fast. This was good for me because I got to make new friends and work on working as a team.

Physics Unit Science 10 Highlight

In the physics unit in science 10 I found the material quite challenging. I was determined to maintain a mark I would be proud of. For the unit test I studied very hard and went for tutorials daily. When the test was over I was very happy with my mark of an 84%.

Science 10 Highlight

In grade 10 science started out as a struggle because I was not putting a full effort towards the material for the biology unit test I studied very hard and I got and A on the test. Getting this mark was very satisfying knowing that my hard work payed off now I quite enjoy science and I am taking all three sciences next year.

Junior Volleyball Reflection

In grade 10 I was on the Junior Volleyball team which I made through a series of three tryouts. I was happy I made the team but not totally surprised as I was on the team in grade nine as well. Something I really wanted was to be captain and I was made co-captain with another girl which I was very excited about. The Junior Volleyball team did very well in league play and winning gold at ISAS. I gained knowledge from being apart of this team. I was co-captain and it taught me how to lead a team. My proudest accomplishment on this team was wining gold at ISAS. We played very well during this tournament and we truly deserved the gold medal and trophy. With this win I gained a sense of accomplishment with bring home a trophy as co-captain. Being on this team has changed my approach to interactions with others because I have the knowledge of working together as a team with a group of people and not working by myself and being controlling. I can absolutely see my self incorporating volleyball into my life I already play on two teams a Collingwood team and a select club team.Volleyball is a huge part of my life and being on the collingwood team sparked that passion. There are many benefits of this activity volleyball is a good way of staying in shape and still having fun being on the junior team I got to play and interact with people from a different grade which is a huge benefit because it brings the school together. Also being co-captain of the team it really taught me how to lead a team in a positive and supportive way. Sound nutritional habits were involved with this team because we were encouraged to eat healthy during the season and if we didn't we would see the difference in our game play and this would push us to stay healthy so we could perform the best we could. This activity allowed me to mange stress very well playing volleyball really let me blow off some steam if I was frustrated with something instead of getting mad at someone I would take my anger out in the way I would play. I would hit or serve the ball with a lot of power and I would try very hard so I could feel good about myself in that way. I think in five to ten years from now I will be still playing volleyball and hopefully starting to help coach after my body no longer allows to play I would like to start coaching so I can share my passion of volleyball with other kids. Being on the Junior Volleyball team was a great experience and I cant wait until I can play with collingwood again next year.
