Junior Volleyball Reflection

In grade 10 I was on the Junior Volleyball team which I made through a series of three tryouts. I was happy I made the team but not totally surprised as I was on the team in grade nine as well. Something I really wanted was to be captain and I was made co-captain with another girl which I was very excited about. The Junior Volleyball team did very well in league play and winning gold at ISAS. I gained knowledge from being apart of this team. I was co-captain and it taught me how to lead a team. My proudest accomplishment on this team was wining gold at ISAS. We played very well during this tournament and we truly deserved the gold medal and trophy. With this win I gained a sense of accomplishment with bring home a trophy as co-captain. Being on this team has changed my approach to interactions with others because I have the knowledge of working together as a team with a group of people and not working by myself and being controlling. I can absolutely see my self incorporating volleyball into my life I already play on two teams a Collingwood team and a select club team.Volleyball is a huge part of my life and being on the collingwood team sparked that passion. There are many benefits of this activity volleyball is a good way of staying in shape and still having fun being on the junior team I got to play and interact with people from a different grade which is a huge benefit because it brings the school together. Also being co-captain of the team it really taught me how to lead a team in a positive and supportive way. Sound nutritional habits were involved with this team because we were encouraged to eat healthy during the season and if we didn't we would see the difference in our game play and this would push us to stay healthy so we could perform the best we could. This activity allowed me to mange stress very well playing volleyball really let me blow off some steam if I was frustrated with something instead of getting mad at someone I would take my anger out in the way I would play. I would hit or serve the ball with a lot of power and I would try very hard so I could feel good about myself in that way. I think in five to ten years from now I will be still playing volleyball and hopefully starting to help coach after my body no longer allows to play I would like to start coaching so I can share my passion of volleyball with other kids. Being on the Junior Volleyball team was a great experience and I cant wait until I can play with collingwood again next year.
